Location: Martinsburg, West Virginia – Frequent to occasional travel to customer sites.

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Engineering Lead

  • Prepare electrical design of low voltage power distribution systems for manufacturing and process equipment.
  • Establish design criteria, perform design calculations, develop single line diagrams, control schematics, plans and specifications.
  • Review manufacturers’ specifications to assure compliance with current applicable standards and local codes/regulations.
  • Provide technical support to the construction management team and contractors during construction.
  • Perform field audits to ensure the installation conforms with the drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare scopes of work, work tenders for installation contractors.
  • Prepare effort hour estimate and capital cost estimates.
  • Provide input to project schedules.
  • Participate in equipment commissioning and start-up.
  • Assist with electrical safety reviews.
  • Inspect equipment upon arrival at the project sites and rectify any deficiencies.
  • Client Communication both written and verbal to ensure strong working relationships are fostered.
  • Daily interactions and communication with fellow team members of engineers and designers.
  • Travel to field operations in Canada and the U.S. to provide on-site leadership and technical services.
Requirements:
  • Professional Engineer (P. E.) License to practice in New York and/or West Virginia State(s).
  • United States citizenship.
  • Ability to travel and work in Canada.
  • Experience in manufacturing, process and utilities environments.
  • Electrical engineering and design experience for power distribution systems from the motor control centers (MCC) to the equipment
  • Experience in specifying instrumentation and process control systems such as PLC’s, I/O cards, etc.
  • Familiar with industrial automation communication protocols
  • Experience with panel design.
  • Project management experience with multi-disciplined engineering projects.
  • Knowledgeable in principles related to electrical maintenance.
  • Experience in safeguarding of machinery and safety instrumented levels (SIL) for processes.
  • Ability to complete a Short-Circuit Current Rating (SCCR) analysis, coordination studies and Arc are an asset.
  • Proven ability to multi-task while delivering multiple projects.
  • Capital cost estimating including effort hour estimates.
  • Basic proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • PLC programing would be an asset (Rockwell 500, 5000).
  • Electrical Safety: IEC, National Electrical Code, ATEX, and NFPA codes/standards.
